Creating strong relationships

For the first time in our history with horses, humans want a relationship based on more than what the horse can do for us. We want connection, understanding, empathy, partnership, mutual trust, respect and safety. We want to understand each other like never before. We recognise that our relationship is a foundation for everything else you do together.

A relationship is not something that can be forced or made.

Relationships develop from your actions and behaviour. Your horses' behaviour reflects their feelings about the situation. If you can learn to listen to their message, no matter how uncomfortable, you can build a better relationship.

If you are in a difficult place with your horse, donkey or mule, the first thing to know is that strong relationships are not built in the easy times. Strong relationships are built in challenging times.  You can work through this. We think that our equine relationships should be perfect. They seldom are.  To have a better relationship, start by deciding what relationship you want and then choose to work in a way that will create that type of relationship.

My work focuses on the equine and their human companion because working on one without the other would only be a partial solution.  Helping you have a better relationship with your equines involves:

  • Identifying the sort of relationship you want

  • It helps you develop more trust and confidence in your abilities.

  • Understanding the science of behaviour so you can communicate effectively

  • Understand their true nature so you can respect them for who they are

  • Create a plan to bring it all together safely and effectively

Horses, donkeys and mules challenge us to understand ourselves more than any other domesticated animal.

Thank you for your time, your care and listening, I think this course is invaluable to many people whether they have equines or not. sally  Richards

“Thank you Ben. Definitely recommend this. Really engaging, empowering and inspiring. Changing held on beliefs about own abilities or lack of and looking at my relationship with my animals in a completely different light. So helpful. Thank you. X”

Rebecca Callaghan Thank you Ben for a fantastic course on how to improve your relationship with your horse. It has been eye opening for both of us and with so much information to take in it has been at a great pace and explained so we can easily understand and relate to it all. Millie and I would highly recommend this course.
